It's astounding how many American chains (food, cosmetics, electronics) you find there (more than in Europe!), and thus how westernized Dubai is (or has become).
BOTTOM LINE:
Dubai is definitely worth a trip - especially if you have a layover there anyway, just like in our case.
I'd say that 2 days are definitely enough, though, to see most of the sights AND go to the beach.
